The wealth of Mubarak and his family is somewhere between $40 billion and $70 billion. This was not a government it was a business. Until this country has a leader who puts the country’s interests first, history will just repeat itself.
From the Arabist, Egypt’s GDP is about $180 billion. Mubarak’s personal wealth is not a third of the actual economy. This figure is a pretty huge overestimate. Not that Mubarak didn’t personally benefit from ruling Egypt, but he’s not the richest man in the world.
