Hi, Thanks for an interesting list. As a Sandwich Generation grandmother of several grandkids, including one teen, I was especially interested in the Slate article, Why the Number of Teenagers with Summer Jobs has Plummeted.
As I pointed out to Slate, at least part of the reason has a lot to do with social changes over the last few decades – fewer stay-at-home moms and more parents not living together and sharing custody – means teens are often staying with grandparents over the summer OR non-custodial parents. And if those are out of their general area, it can make it extra tough to get jobs, as many are already taken before school even gets out.
Good food for thought for grandparents and parents to teach the kids to do some early research. Thanks for the interesting info.
